ZET1SM, ZET1PM, ZET2SM, or ZET2PM
(made from April 2007 to date)
If the unit has not been updated with the new control board then in order to be able to open the oven door on Shabbos/YomTov, you will need to tape down the plunger switch with metallic tape. Once the tape is in place, you may adjust the temperature on YomTov, but after raising the temperature you must wait 30 minutes before opening the door. Opening the oven door within that 30 minute time span will deactivate a fan. This is not a problem when lowering the temperature. (Remember, even in the Sabbath mode, one is never permitted to adjust the temperature on the Sabbath.)
GE has released a new control board in response to the issues associated with the above noted model numbers, and Star-K certification has been reinstated. To arrange for free installation of this modification, consumers and/or retailers may call GE Monogram at (800) 444-1845. Select prompt # 3 to reach Monogram Consumer Relations Managers trained to assist with this issue. These models are not currently being manufactured with this new fix, and consumers should consider this before purchasing one of these models.
