Beer, Liquor and Liqueur Listing

Due to increasing complexity within the beer industry, STAR-K and other leading agencies have decided to stop expanding the list of uncertified beers and answering questions on specific uncertified (unflavored) beers. Certified beers are always preferable. Consumers are directed to review the general guidance page at star-k.org to determine on their own if their unflavored beer can be approved. Updates to our kosher policy regarding the status of uncertified beers will be provided as new information becomes available.

Flavored beer (requires certification) OR when brewed in a brewery that makes beer with non-kosher seafood or meat.

Not acceptable without certification when labeled with the words: Sherry, Port, Cognac, Madeira, Oloroso, Sauterne, Shiraz, Dual-Cask Finish, Double-Matured, or any other indication of wine cask aging.

When made from grapes, whey, lactose or other dairy ingredients.

IMPORTANT: Only single malt, 100% Japanese whisky is approved.

Acceptable without certification when 100% Agave and CRT APPROVED. Anejo, Reposado, and Cristalino preferable with reliable certification.

Flavored Tequila, Mixto (not 100% Agave), or when labeled with the words: Burdeos, Sherry, Port, Cognac, Madeira, Oloroso, Sauterne, Shiraz, Dual Cask Finish, or Double-Matured.
